Turun iltalukion Finnish for Foreigners -kurssit alkavat tiistaina 1.9.2026 ja keskiviikkona 2.9.2026. Suomen kielen kursseilla opiskellaan suomea sen kaikilla osa-alueilla: puheen ymmärtämistä, puhumista, tekstin ymmärtämistä ja kirjoittamista sanastoa ja kielioppia unohtamatta. Tunneilla tehdään paljon paritöitä ja kielitaidon kehittyessä myös puheharjoituksia. Kursseilla käytetään apukielenä englantia.
Suomen kielen alkeiskursseilla FIN1–FIN5 (A- ja B- ja C-ryhmät) käytetään oppikirjaa Suomen mestari 1, SM1 (painos 2020–2026).
A-ryhmä) Jos haluat opiskella kaksi kertaa viikossa, voit aloittaa 1.9. kurssin FIN1 aivan alkeista ja edetä lukuvuoden aikana kurssin FIN5 loppuun. Kursseilla opiskellaan SM1 kappaleet 1–9 ja työskennellään taitotasoilla A1.1, A1.2 ja A1.3. Oppitunnit ovat tiistaisin ja torstaisin klo 16.30–17.50.
B-ryhmä) Jos haluat opiskella kerran viikossa, voit aloittaa 2.9. kurssin FIN1 aivan alkeista ja edetä lukuvuoden aikana kurssille FIN3.Kursseilla opiskellaan SM1 kappaleet 1–4 ja työskennellään taitotasoilla A1.1 ja A1.2. Oppitunnit ovat keskiviikkoisin klo 16.30–17.50.
C-ryhmä) Jos olet opiskellut jo vähän suomen kielen alkeita ja haluat opiskella kerran viikossa, voit aloittaa 2.9. kurssin FIN3 ja edetä lukuvuoden aikana kurssin FIN5 loppuun.Kursseilla opiskellaan SM1 kappaleet 5–9 ja työskennellään taitotasoilla A1.2 ja A1.3. Oppitunnit ovat keskiviikkoisin klo 18.00–19.20.
D-ryhmä) Suomen kielen jatkokurssit FIN6–FIN10 ovat tiistaisin ja torstaisin klo 18.00–19.20. Kursseilla on paikkoja rajoitetusti! Kursseilla opiskellaan SM2 kappaleet 1–8 ja työskennellään taitotasoilla A2.1 ja A2.2. Opiskelijoiden taitotaso voi vaihdella kielen eri osa-alueilla, ja jotkut opiskelijat voivat saavuttaa jopa tason B1.1. Osta itsellesi oppikirja Suomen mestari 2, SM2 (uusi painos 2022–2026).
Yksi kurssi on laajuudeltaan 2 opintopistettä, ja se sisältää 22 tuntia opetusta, kotitehtäviä sekä kurssikokeen. Jos opiskelet kerran viikossa, kurssi kestää kaksi periodia. Yksi kurssi maksaa 20 euroa. TAI:n opiskelijoille ja ukrainalaisille kurssit ovat maksuttomia.
Lukuvuodessa on viisi periodia, ja opiskelija voi suorittaa yhden kurssin periodissa. Opetus järjestetään ensisijaisesti luokkaopetuksena, mutta opiskelija voi osallistua tunneille myös Teamsin kautta.
Ilmoittautuminen kurssille tapahtuu lähettämällä sähköpostia opettajalle (anu-mari.janhonen@edu.turku.fi) joko 14.6.2026 mennessä tai 10.8.2026 lähtien. Huomaa, että sähköposteihin ei vastata kesälomalla.
1)Ilmoita opettajalle, missä ryhmässä haluat opiskella (A/B/C/D).
2) Kerro, maksatko kurssimaksusi itse vai haetko Turun iltalukion tukisäätiöltä tukea, jolloin sinun ei tarvitse itse maksaa kurssimaksuasi.
3a) Jos maksat itse, opettaja antaa sinulle ohjeet kurssimaksun maksamiseen verkossa. Rekisteröitymiseen vaaditaan sosiaaliturvatunnus. Rekisteröityminen on valmis, kun olet maksanut kurssimaksun.
3b) Jos sinulla on opiskeluperusteinen oleskelulupa, opiskelet turkulaisessa korkeakoulussa (Turun AMK, Turun yliopisto tai Åbo Akademi), voit hakea tukea ilmoittautumisen yhteydessä. Tule Turun iltalukioon, osoitteeseen Eskelinkatu 4: ma 24.8. klo 16.00–18.00 A-ryhmä, ti 25.8. klo 16.00–18.00 D-ryhmä ja ke 26.8. klo 16.00–18.00 B- ja C-ryhmät. Rekisteröitymiseen vaaditaan sosiaaliturvatunnus, opiskelijakortti ja oleskelulupa. Myös Turun ammatti-instituutin opiskelijoiden ja ukrainalaisten ilmoittautuminen on koulussa yllä mainittuina päivinä.

Finnish for Foreigners courses
The Finnish for Foreigners courses at Turku Evening high school will start on Tuesday, September 1 and on Wednesday September 2, 2026. The Finnish language courses will study Finnish in all its aspects: understanding speech, speaking, understanding text and writing, without forgetting vocabulary and grammar. There will be a lot of pair work during the lessons and, as language skills develop, also speaking exercises. The courses use English as an auxiliary language.
The Finnish language beginner courses FIN1–FIN5 (groups A, B and C) use the textbook Suomen mestari 1, SM1 (edition 2020–2026).
Group A) If you want to study twice a week, you can start the FIN1 course from the very beginning on 1 September and progress to the end of the FIN5 course during the academic year. The courses cover chapters 1–9 of the textbook SM1 at the proficiency levels A1.1, A1.2 and A1.3. The lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:30 to 17:50.
Group B) If you want to study once a week, you can start the FIN1 course on September 2nd from the very beginning and progress to the FIN3 course during the academic year. The courses cover chapters 1–4 of the textbook SM1 at the proficiency levels A1.1 and A1.2. The lessons are on Wednesdays from 16:30 to 17:50.
Group C) If you have already studied some basics of Finnish and want to study once a week, you can start the FIN3 course on September 2nd and progress to the end of the FIN5 course during the academic year. The courses cover chapters 5–9 of the textbook SM1 at the proficiency levels A1.2 and A1.3. The lessons are on Wednesdays from 18:00 to 19:20.
Group D) Finnish language advanced courses FIN6–FIN10 are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:20. There are limited places on the courses! The courses cover chapters 1–9 of the textbook SM2 at the proficiency levels A2.1 and A2.2. The students’ skill levels may vary in different areas of the language, and some students may even reach level B1.1. Buy yourself the textbook SM2, Suomen mestari 2 (new edition 2022–2026).
One course is worth 2 credits and includes 22 hours of instruction, homework and a course exam. If you study once a week, the course lasts two periods. One course costs 20 euros. For TAI students and Ukrainians, the courses are free of charge.
There are five periods in an academic year, and a student can take one course per period. Teaching is primarily organized as classroom instruction, but students can also participate in classes via Teams.
Registration for the course is done by sending an email to the teacher (anu-mari.janhonen@edu.turku.fi) either by June 14, 2026 or from August 10, 2026. Please note that emails will not be answered during the summer holidays.
1) Tell the teacher which group you want to study in (A/B/C/D).
2) Tell her whether you will pay your course fee yourself or whether you will apply for support from the Turku Evening High School Support Foundation, in which case you do not have to pay your course fee yourself.
3a) If you are paying yourself, your teacher will give you instructions on how to pay the course fee online. A social security number is required to register. Registration is complete once you have paid the course fee.
3b) If you have a residence permit based on studies and you are studying at a higher education institution in Turku (Turku University of Applied Sciences, University of Turku or Åbo Akademi), you can apply for support when registering. Come to Turku Evening high school, Eskelinkatu 4: Mon 24.8. at 16:00–18:00 Group A, Tue 25.8. at 16:00–18:00 Group D and Wed 26.8. at 16:00–18:00 Groups B and C. A Finnish social security number, student card and residence permit are required for registration. Registration for the students of Turku Vocational Institute (TAI) and Ukrainians is also at the school on the above-mentioned days.
